Sustainable Copyright in Music: Best Practices for Metadata
Elvis ry is hosting a workshop about current metadata methods. The topic
is: Sustainable copyright in music, best practices for metadata. The
discussion will be held in English.
In the music streaming era consumers can't get access to the same information that used to be automatically printed on the album sleeves or CD booklets in the analog age. Who wrote or which musicians performed on the tracks we just listened to. Music has become anonymous.
In addition, e.g. Spotify informs that it has problems in targeting the compensation for the right rightsholders "because the data necessary to confirm the appropriate rightsholder is often missing, wrong, or incomplete".
The aim of the workshop is to contemplate which path the music industry should choose and together move forward towards better metadata in order to achieve the following:
1. Author and musician information shown on music streaming services
2. Valid and accurate metadata enabling the right compensation for the right rightsholders
